Bothar Bui is nestled on a secluded hillside overlooking Kenmare Bay on the Beara peninsula in the heart of Ireland’s scenic South West.
Designed by renowned Irish architect Robin Walker, this unique modernist assemblage of historic farm buildings and contemporary structures works as a rare family holiday retreat. The house makes the best use of its quiet location, surrounded by 12 acres of indigenous oak woodland leading down to a small harbour with private shoreline. Nature lovers can spot hundreds of different types of mosses and various flora growing in the woods.
Divided into six different buildings including: the renovated original farmhouse and it’s two side buildings; two light-filled modernist structures (with two bedrooms and a bathroom each), and a third modernist grand living room (“the studio”).
The kitchen/dining room with another living area with large open fire- place is in the original farmhouse.
The new buildings have one wall of floor-to-ceiling glass windows with balconies where you can enjoy the spectacular views at their best.
The house is not visible from the road and so enjoys total privacy and quietude despite being just a short 5 min drive to the nearest small village of Ardgroom.
Numerous artists, writers, poets and musicians from all over the world have relished the peace and quiet, not to mention the fun parties to be had in the incomparable atmosphere of Bothar Bui.
